Nikko, Tochigi, Japan｜Cafe Salon de The OKA

The couple who own this restaurant go above and beyond to give you the best hospitality possible. We were late to our dinner reservation and they even tried to pick us up from the station, which we politely declined. The food was excellent from the salad, soup, hamburger steak, wine, desert, and coffee. The couple even gave us free food we didn’t order such as pickles, fruit, chocolates, and tea. Afterwards when we left the restaurant (without asking) a car was waiting for us and they offered to drive us back to our hotel which was difficult to decline. You’d be hard pressed to find a restaurant with better service in Kinugawa Onsen let alone Tokyo. I’ve extensively traveled around the globe, eaten at 3-star michelin star restaurants such as Sukiyabashi Jiro, French Laundry, etc that didn’t have as good of service as this; Jiro-san and Thomas Keller may make amazing food but I’m pretty sure they won’t drive you home. If you ever find yourself near Kinugawa Onsen, definitely take the effort to make a visit!

A lovely little restaurant in Nikko, ran by a lovely lady. The food is tasty and interesting if you've never had Japanese 'western' food. Very good price, and so much food! You can't leave hungry!

Amazing food and service. Amazing ambience! Ran by a kind and amazing couple. They even dropped us back at our hotel since we had walked till there!!
