Nasushiobara, Tochigi, Japan｜Mikasaken

Accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant and had an amazing experience! The chef, Tokuichi San, prepares all the meals by himself with freshly bought ingredients of the day. I ordered the pork steak (highly recommend! ), omurice, and fresh salad which came in generous portions, was delicious, and had a unique blend of japanese and western flavours. The ambience of the restaurant was also great. Tokuichi San is also fluent in english and mandarin, and I learnt alot about Shiobara from him. While this place mainly takes reservations, I think walk ins are also accepted if it’s not too busy. Otherwise you may have to wait for a while, but it’s worth the wait!

A friend and I ate here after a long day and had an outstanding meal! The owner/chef was very friendly and helpful with suggestions (with perfect English, to my relief), and the set meals that we got were both excellent and very affordable. The view of the river from the table is also delightful.

Awesome food with amazing view and good customer service. I like this place.
