Nasu, Tochigi, Japan｜La Terra

There are a lot of places to visit in Nasu, and La Terra is definitely one of them. Very private restaurant, seating less than 20 people, in a discrete location just one step away from the main road. It seems open for lunch service only. The front staff is just one lady who is absolutely full of attention and does a wonderful job with the service, although at times she is visibly overloaded with work, she is a star, no doubt. Course started with a salad with the best roast potatoes I've had in Japan. It's a shame there were only two of them. We had the mortadelle pizza and some meat sauce pasta, both were very delightful. The pizza felt very authentic, the dough was close to perfect. Mortadelle is my favourite ham so I'll be biased on the taste, but it's a testimony to the quality, really. Pasta was OK, not quite authentic, but good in its own right. But let me tell you what I want to be fed buckets of: their frozen cream catalana for dessert. Just put this in my mouth, please. Price wise, I'll admit it's a bit high, but it's still cheaper than any chain pizza store.

Pls note: Cash only. Fab food and service. Set meals available. Fresh oven pizza. Generous prosciutto on dishes. Cosy setting but enough for pram space, small garden at the back if you’re waiting for a table. Prams ok but have to carry up the steps. Wonderful service.

Great atmosphere, pretty large choice of pizzas for such a small cozy place. The pizza was very tasty and big. Course was very reasonable with salada, pizza or pasta, dessert and coffee or tea. Left the restaurant full and happy. Will go back for sure.
