Tamano, Okayama, Japan｜Ocean Village

Probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Juicy, tender and flavorful. I’ve had a lot of really good chicken, especially in the US. Who would have thought the this little joint in a small Japanese village would beat all of those. My wife had the fish tacos with onion rings and I had the “arranged” addictive chicken, MUST TRY with junk fries. We love Japanese food but most places were full or closed so we looked at the good Google reviews for this place, did not disappoint! It’s a small place run by what seems to be mother and son. They have an English menu and we were able to communicate without problems. Place was packed on a Sunday night so make sure to reserve a spot and enjoy! Cash only.

This is an excellent restaurant. The staff can speak some English. The meat taco was very good. The beef was well seasoned. The garlic shrimp taco was delicious. I highly recommend it. The staff were patient and polite. The pricing was fair. I am from California where tacos are famous and a common dish. The chef here is equally skilled.

Great little place, good food, good service from hard working couple who run the place and reasonable prices. Popular with locals as well as tourists like us and menu in English is really helpful. Don't be put off by initial impressions, very glad we weren't.
