Shizuoka, Japan｜Namaste Nippon

A cozy Indian /Nepalese restaurant with a small corner of imported ingredients available for purchase. They have a large selection of curries and Naan, as well. The curry is good, with 4 different levels of spice. The staff is very friendly! The menus don't have English, but the staff can speak it a bit. Note that the parking lot is very tiny, so if you are driving you'll want to be early to get a space!

I have been a regular customer at Namaste Nippon for several years. Obviously the food and service is excellent (and warm and caring owners) but they also have a space dedicated to sales of ingredients and Indian/ Nepalese food and spice in general. You can find very good Basmati rice here and hard-to-find spices for home cooking . The owner will take time to explain how to cook with these products (in English or Japanese). And if you’re a gaijin and you feel tired of being treated like a gaijin everywhere you go in Shizuoka, this is the place to relax and be treated warmly and respectfully. Five big stars
