Gotemba, Shizuoka, Japan｜たから亭

The three of us ordered Mixed Sansi (super refreshing, highly recommended), Mapo Tofu (very thick, not spicy or numb 😂 I have a strong taste), Yunbai Pork (delicious pork belly, the brown sauce on top is very mysterious and delicious) , scrambled eggs with tomatoes (average), Kung Pao Chicken (this one is not spicy 🙂 ). The rice is also delicious, and the clear soup is also delicious. I ordered Wanglaoji just to get rid of a little bit. After playing for a day, I highly recommend a restaurant. What about the price? Are these 8866 expensive? No, just right.

What an enjoyable experience. Firstly the staff were so accommodating. They helped us in English with our choices from the menu as we do not read or speak Japanese. One of the waitresses, who was explaining what one of the specials was even went to ask a colleague what the English word for Buri is. We learned it is yellowtail and the dish was delicious. We had spicy fried chicken; steamed buri in a soy sauce; dim sum; tofu in a savoury and spicy pork sauce; and fried rice with pork and fish. The chicken was the crispest fried chicken I have ever eaten and the whole dish had nice smokey flavour from the dried chillies. The tofu in the savoury pork sauce was excellent and the fried rice was incredible with little chunks of pork which tasted smokey like the meat had been barbecued. Each dish was delivered with a smile and an explanation in English from the server. The staff were what made tonight's experience so enjoyable. They helped us understand what we were ordering and were also very kind when my girlfriend used our phrase book to tell them the food was delicious. They were kind, knowledgable and very courteous. We left the restaurant with huge smiles and memories of a dining experience we will remember for a long time to come.

We used the lunch course (¥4,400 tax included) for 2 people. Starting with today's 5 appetizers, we enjoyed 1 Tenshin, 1 vegetable dish, 3 dishes, and dessert. The seasoning was exquisite and the vegetables were also very delicious. All the staff were very considerate, and I was able to spend a very comfortable time in a comfortable space. It was a shop that happened to stop by on the way to the Gotemba Outlet, but it was a happy miscalculation because it was a very satisfying lunch.
