Nakatsugawa, Gifu, Japan｜御食事処 たつ家

This is a cozy restaurant with really welcoming staff. The delicious (and free) starting appetisers stuffed us before we even got started on our orders 😊 Their sashimi is really thick and fresh, and I absolutely recommend their fried pork cutlets. The portions were positively ginormous, if you have a smaller appetite, be mindful to order slightly less or you might find yourself overstuffed 🤣 Overall, there was little crowd, service 10/10, and the food affordable and fantastic! Absolutely recommend trying out :)

Service was excellent. Very nice customers in the shop as well. They tried to talk to us and offer us sake. Communication is difficult when you don’t speak Japanese obviously but we managed. Food was amazing everything was incredibly tasty. Menu was only in all Japanese but with the pictures, Google translate and help from the owner we managed to pick something great!

I wanted to eat after climbing Mt. Ontake, so I searched for restaurants around the foot of the mountain, but they were all closed in the afternoon, so I returned to Nakatsugawa and found Tatsuya. A set meal of 1,100 yen is a bargain. Free large serving of rice. Comes with side dishes. There are also a wide variety of main side dishes that can be eaten with set meals. The customer base is all locals and it is a little-known shop.
