Nakatsugawa, Gifu, Japan｜Juri

Nice little restaurant on the Nakasendo trail, we stopped by for lunch as we skipped all the restaurants in Magomejuku due to the crowds of tourists. This place mainly has sticky chestnut rice and soba, and we each got a serving of cold soba which was perfect for the hot and sunny weather. Plenty of side dishes and for a reasonable price. The staff was quite busy but still provides good service, English menus were available and a big help. They also served soft serve and there is a vending machine outside the place to buy a drink to bring with you on you’re hike. Not the best place but nothing to complain about, we enjoyed our lunch break here very much :))

This is a 6****** place to be. Not in luxury, not in facilities but just a great place to be. The food is good, but the people make the difference. So happy to visit this place. We were overwhelmed by the warm and kind hospitality.

What a lovely little restaurant!! It was a hot day on the nakasendo trail, and the kakigori (shaved ice) sign was all the temptation we needed to stop in. It’s run by the kindest folks, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. If you’re walking the nakasendo trail, I highly recommend coming here for the shaved ice!!!!
