It's the first day of a 2-night, 3-day Hachioji-Niigata-Kanazawa-Yonebara-Toyohashi-Hachioji trip.If you leave Hachioji Station on the Hachiko Line at 4:45, you'll arrive at Nagaoka Station just after 10:00. From there, if you walk 4.2 km, you will find Machi Chuka Furen on the roadside, which is about an hour away. However, this time as well, I had a folding bicycle so I was comfortable and light on my feet, and after shopping for takeout at one place, I arrived at Furen just before 11am. It opens at 11:30, but you'll have to wait, lol. After that, there was a steady flow of customers, and from the time we lined up about 5 minutes before 11:30, we arrived on time and entered the store. This town Chinese restaurant is so popular that all but a few of the counters are full due to long lines of customers. After looking at the menu, I decided to order the mapo tofu set meal for 990 yen, extra spicy + 50 yen, and in addition to that, I ordered the shrimp chive shumai for 550 yen. I'd like to have a beer, but it's quite a long walk to the station, so I'll have to wait for a while. The mapo tofu set meal was served on the plate in about 10 minutes. It consists of mapo tofu in a clay pot, zha cai, corn soup, mini salad, almond tofu, and rice. The mapo tofu is piping hot, dark in color and looks delicious. Now, after taking a sip of the soup, it's time to eat. The corn soup was quite piping hot and delicious, which is probably why it received such high praise. It's mapo tofu. It has a lot of Chinese spices, such as scooping with a spoon and a lot of torches, and it has a good flavor and is delicious. I'm happy that the zha cai is homemade as the ready-made ones are too salty. Around that time, shumai appeared. Contains 4 large ones. Even this size of shrimp shumai is delicious. This is also delicious when freshly made and piping hot with just a little bit of black vinegar and mustard. Is the mini salad normal? The almond tofu was also delicious and a great treat. I was expecting the quality of Osaka Chuka Shunsai Morimoto, but it seems my expectations were too high. Still, I was able to enjoy a delicious local Chinese meal.

I came here after hearing that the mapo noodles were delicious. The mapo tofu at this restaurant has a strong miso-based seasoning that I've never tasted before, and it's very delicious. The ramen is from a restaurant in Nagaoka, so I thought it would be ginger-soy sauce-based, but although it is soy-sauce-based, it has a different taste and is delicious. The gyoza took a while to cook, but the hot, crispy skin and ginger-flavored meat were irresistible.
