Ooyama hike -> onsen -> this excellent little teishyoku spot. It's a cosy hole-in-the-wall with tatami floor seating, little logic puzzles to work out at the table, and staff with smiles as big & warm as their agemono. Definitely tops any meal from an onsen restaurant/bar in both price and tastiness. Take the extra 10 minutes to walk over here, very worth!

The daily set meal of 600 yen is a great deal. We also received hot coffee as a service. On this day, it was a seared horse mackerel set meal.

A shop that can be said to be the conscience of Tsurumaki Onsen. There are 3 parking spaces diagonally in front. Regular customers can quickly order the daily special and eat it quickly before heading home. Two coins (600 yen) that feel like they used to be one coin. For less than 800 yen, you can eat the best fried horse mackerel in the neighborhood. It is a shop that I want to continue for a long time.
