Koya, Wakayama, Japan｜ことぶき食堂

Just the best set meal we had in Japan, everything tasted so wonderful. We had a coconut curry which was the best curry we've ever had. And the today's set meal has more than 15 different tastes, had to almost clean the plate with my tongue.. If you come to Koyasan, don't forget to spend some time eating here.

Lunch here on my first day on Koyasan was so wonderful, I came again for lunch on my second day! This charming tiny restaurant serves several fresh options and the ten-zarusoba is perfect. It comes with a small dish of sesame seed tofu, a heavenly, creamy Koyasan specialty. Be sure to see the 110-year-old photos of the proprietor's parents and family.

This restaurant had delicious food when I visited in April 2023. It was a convenient spot for a meal after visiting the cemetery. The menu has a limited number of options but the variety is good, both Japanese and Western options, including a couple of fresh daily specials. The staff were super friendly, especially the owner, who could also speak English as well. It's a small but very cute and welcoming place.
