It feels good to eat here. I got the tempura udon. It was under 1000 yen. I went it right when it opened at 11am. Within 30 minutes, it was pretty busy, but there were still a few empty tables. The building looks like an old manor house. I ate in the engawa section, so I could enjoy the view. There are tables outside with umbrellas as well if you prefer eating outside. Staff is friendly and inviting, even to a foreigner who was stinky from 2 days of bicycling. It was my first proper meal in a couple of days, and it didn't disappoint.

Homemade Udon and fresh Tempura vegetables. Delicious!

This is an udon restaurant located deep in the mountains of the Miyako River. If you let your guard down when you're further inside the river play area, you'll pass by. I ordered a large serving of hiyajiru udon, which is only available until September.It was very delicious with the thick, strong chewiness and brownish noodles typical of Musashino udon.The hiyajiru was full of cucumber and had the flavor of sesame and ginger, making it perfect for summer.It was perfect with the udon. It was a great combination and it was great. Apparently they have a limited edition curry udon from autumn to winter, so I'll be visiting again. The restaurant seems to have been relocated from an old folk house, and has a very nice atmosphere with high ceilings and strong beams.There is also terrace seating outside, so you can probably eat outside as well. If you go around the back of the store, you'll see Totoro. It's close to the mountains, so be sure to spray yourself with insect repellent before heading out to see it.
