Yokoze, Saitama, Japan｜Road Station Orchard Park Ashigakubo Cafeteria

Stopped by here for toilet break and decided to stay for lunch. Very simple menu featuring hand-made soba and udon, using ingredients sourcing from local. I had the cold soba and maitake mushroom tempura set. The soba was cooked to al dente, chewy and full of buckwheat flavour. And the maitake was thick and meaty texture with just a thin layer of coating. I had some maitake tempura with a little sprinkle of salt, and some with soba sauce dipping. Both were good, but I think with salt it really brings out the aroma of the maitake and crunchiness of tempura. Very good combination and delicious!

Very very good ramen

I stopped by today for lunch while touring. I received "Zuriage Udon". This is a food where you don't have udon soup, but have a special soy sauce for udon at the table, mix it with the toppings, adjust the taste with the noodle soup in the udon, and then eat it like tsukemen.
