Otsu, Shiga, Japan｜Jinen

Got the Jukuseiniku (Dry-aged meat) Course as recommended by Hotel Koo. I was impressed. Each bite is truly a delight! First, turnip pottage. Hot and light, perfect for to warm you up this season and to start off the course. I appreciated the quality pepper sprinkled on it. Next, appetizers! They had roast beef and steamed chicken with mushroom sauce. The mushroom sauce is to die for. I think I want a bottle of that. Before the main, salad! It's a variety of greens that are super fresh, drizzled with quality olive oil and rock salt. It's so simple and refreshing. For the main, there's Sumibiyaki dry-aged beef, loin pork, and seasonal veggies. The pork meat apparently is very special (I just forgot the kind!) For the veggies, the sweet potato was out of this world! So sweet!!! Of course the meats are amazing. Not fatty. Just good, tender, quality meat. After that, Jinen's famous curry! But I had to get a little detour and ordered a plate of cheese. Again, forgot the kinds but I loved the soft cheese. Very pungent! The hard cheese had cumin in it. Perfect to pair with the curry. To finish it all off, bitter pudding! It is like Leche flan but way less sweet and probably a hundred times better. I'm so full and so happy! I cannot wait to be back!! PS The chef/family is so nice! Customer service is 120%!

Amazing food of the highest quality. Service leaves nothing to be desired. Reservations are usually required as they only cater for a few tables at a time but definitely worth the time/cost!

I made a reservation to celebrate my best friend's wedding anniversary. The owner told me on the phone when I made the reservation that a celebratory plate would be served when the dessert was served. Everyone was impressed with what was delivered that day. Thank you very much.
