Yoshikawa, Saitama, Japan｜Koujiya

This is my second time using it. My wife and I visited the store right when it opened at 1130 on weekdays. This is a long-established river fish store in Yoshikawa that has been around for over 400 years. In the past, there was a hunting ground nearby, perhaps a remnant of that? The structure of the store is also splendid. Last time I used it for a memorial service, the waiting lobby and courtyard were beautiful. Meals are served in a very spacious Japanese-style room, decorated with large paintings, making it the perfect place to entertain on special occasions. I had the catfish tempura set and the carp, and Kami-san had 1.5 slices of eel (...but that's about 1 and a half slender pieces of eel). The catfish tempura is soft and has a good texture, and the red miso catfish head soup is also delicious. Naturally, the eel was grilled in the Kanto region, but it was fluffy, soft, flavorful, and delicious. The carp pieces come out after cooking, so they were very fresh and delicious. Kojiya is a traditional Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy a relaxing meal for adults. Furthermore, the service provided by the waitress was very friendly and had a pleasant demeanor, and I heard that she was from the area, but it was a restaurant where I was satisfied with both the food and the service.

A restaurant that has been in business for 400 years. It is said that countless historical figures have visited. If you go up the slightly sloped approach, you will see a modern storefront, but the inside looks like an art gallery. Hiroshige Ando, ​​Katsushika Hokusai, Buncho Tani... I don't know the authenticity, but each one has an authenticated version. The dish is famous for its catfish dishes. The seared fish (like violets) had a bit of a taste, but the rest was plain white fish and delicious.
