We love this place for its cosy and friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Especially amazing on a snowy, cold winters day.

Cheap local food run by a friendly owner who can speak a little English

Visited the store during the day on weekdays. There were only 2-3 other groups and it was empty. I wanted to eat something similar to that in Shiga Prefecture, but I didn't really know what it was, so I decided to walk there from the nearest Shin-Asahi Station since the name of the restaurant sounded like local cuisine. It's a little more than a 20 minute walk, which is unexpectedly long, but apart from the few hundred meters after crossing the bypass, the sidewalks are well maintained and easy to walk. I ordered the Tonchan set meal that was recommended by the uncle at the restaurant. Tonchan and shioimeshi seem to be the local cuisine of this area, and I was happy to be able to eat them. Above all, the atmosphere inside the store was very nice, with an irori hearth, so I highly recommend stopping by when you're in Takashima City.
