Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, Japan｜割烹 七草

Went there for the famous “fish in the rice” pot-dish. While I wasn’t really awed by the dish itself, what I really liked was the enthusiasm with which the staff explained about the dish, and the courteousness. We went for dinner and it was a 4 (or 5) course meal. They suggested that we choose only 1 meal option as the main dish will be sufficient for 2 people and rest of the items we can just share among the two people. This was helpful otherwise we would have wasted a lot of food if we would have ordered 2 meal sets. The setting is nice and cozy. The place has parking for a few cars.

A fantastic experience. Elegant food at a very modest cost. Service was excellent and passionate. Each dish was thoughtful and tasty, I particularly enjoyed the mochi and miso yellow tail. Fish on rice in clay pot was amazing.

Dine here, you won’t regret it! We were told that the restaurant was featured 6 times on Japanese national TV due to this fish dish and it certainly lived up to its name. It was delish and we’ve never had any dish quite like this before. Service was great and the staff explained the cooking method and ingredients well. Thank you for the great experience. Icing on the cake is the view of mt Fuji
