Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, Japan｜ひふみ食堂

This was the best soba I've had in Japan; I got vegetable tempura cold soba and the broth was fantastic. The owners are elderly so we sat on the side in the traditional table area to help pass things back and forth, but both of them were friendly and inviting. Food and drinks arrived quickly and everyone in my group was impressed with what they got. The owners don't speak much English so if you don't speak much Japanese please be patient and gracious if you don't get what you think you ordered. (If you want what I got the word for vegetable is "yasai")

I visited by the place unplanned and to my surprise, the owners were warm and the food servings big. We had 7 of us all full and happy.

Brilliant local restaurant. The Katsu don we had on our whole Japan trip. No English spoken but the hosts are so lovely and kind, we had a great time
