Otsuki, Yamanashi, Japan｜Miyajima

Our group showed up late after a hike to this set meal 定食 style restaurant. The portions are copious for the low prices. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, giving explanations about unfamiliar dishes. All the dishes we tried were delicious. The starchy 五目ラーメン was huge with generous amounts of meat and veggies, the thin but crispy 紙カツ came with a peppery salad, and the ヒレカツ was thick and juicy. I'll definitely drop by here on my next trip to Otsuki!

Great, delicious dish of Japanese cuisine (Katsudon, Ebi furai, etc) with a good price. The staff is very kind to us, explaining how to eat the food we ordered.

3 stars for service, 2 stars for food. Lovely little spot for locals with a perfectly cooked karaage - lightly fried (not oily!) and crispy, seasoned and moist - good sized serving for two. Braised pork belly is served with a five spice sauce is tender, chicken katsu is fine, pan fried gyoza is fresh and with a crisp edge. Service is wonderful - warm and helpful, patient and quick. With very little Japanese, we were able to have a very tasty lunch!
