Aridagawa, Wakayama, Japan｜Gekkou

A beautiful old style Japanese house, full of art and tucked into the Arida countryside. I recommend the pizza & pasta lunch complete with a large fresh salad and desert. Be sure to ask the friendly staff about nearby cafes and places to swim, they really know the area.

I never thought that the place where I'd have some of the best western food I'd ever eaten is in a small village in the middle of the Wakayama jungles. The owner was a wonderful accommodating lady, and we got along despite the language barrier. Her food was incredible; a local variation of standard western pizza and pasta dishes. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. A must-go if passing by. (Speaking a bit of Japanese can help here!)
