Ichikawa, Chiba, Japan｜Sand’s Diner Motoyawata

First of all, Taka-san the manager is awesome and was really accommodating with me and the no meat/vegetarian dietary restrictions I had. He let me know what ingredients were in things, which I really appreciate. Also, the food is cooked with SPICY peppers, and it's DELICIOUS. I'm always complaining the food isn't spicy enough in Japan, but their volcano mountain did me in. Fantastic! The restaurant feels like a Mexican restaurant like in the US, especially like south Texas area. Just all around great service, awesome food, cheap drinks at happy hour, and I'm definitely going back again!

The lunch buffet is amazing. It's a little far from Tokyo but definitely worth the trip out. You get to make your own tacos (shells and flour tortillas) with different toppings and three types of meat (beef, pork, and chicken). The tortilla chips go wonderfully with guacamole and chili con carne. They also had a couple of other dishes and churros for dessert.

This suggested by my Japanese friend was quite the find. Located right outside the Motoyawata station in the Chiba prefecture in Japan. You need to take the yellow Sobu local line to get here. Once you get down at Motoyawata station head out the North exit and it's barely a 3 mins walk. The food does taste authentic Mexican and the place offers a nice selection of Mexican beer. Clearly this place seems to be quite popular. You won't be disappointed - give it a try whenever you are in Japan....
