Karuizawa, Nagano, Japan｜Ristorante L'ombra

We stayed at Club Harvest Karuizawa hotel, found this Italian restaurant nearby on google map, we were attracted by the pics (both decorations and dishes) posted by others. The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL! The dining area is inside a glass house, surrounded by trees and snow. The food was absolutely delicious, the portion of each dish was just right (not too much). I’ve been living in Japan (Tokyo) for many years, and this simply is the BEST Italian restaurant that I’ve been to. Heard that the owner/chef used to own a shop in Roppongi and moved to Karuizawa couple years ago. Highly recommend. Must visit if you visit Karuizawa!

We went to this restaurant for my birthday celebration and truly had a great time there. We sat on the table next to the big window and could see the mountain very clearly. We were in awe from the starter all the way to the dessert & coffee. Each ingredient in the dishes perfectly compliment the taste of other ingredients. The two kinds of soup for starter were creative and delicious. The bread served on the side was soft inside and crunchy outside. I don’t think I had ever had pasta as tasty as the one I had there! The grilled fish was super nicely grilled and served with two delicious sauces I had never found anywhere else before. The layout of all dishes (particularly the dessert) was so well done and creative that I felt sorry eating them! The plates used to serve the dishes were also very elegant. Lastly, the customer service was excellent. The staff were very friendly as they explained each dish they served. Overall, this is a lunch experience I will always cherish. Thank you!

For wedding use. The best of best. Food, services, stuffs, everything was perfect.
