Yamanochi, Nagano, Japan｜Soba Yariya

We had a really heartwarming moment with this lovely restaurant. We didn’t know we couldn’t use card payment and had only a little cash left. We had a long tiring day and were starving and wanted a filling dinner. The lady owner understood the situation and kindly offered her help with the food portions and charged us exactly how much we had in cash. It was so touching. And of course, we had the most fantastic food in Yudanaka. Salmon sashimi (so thick sliced and so delicious!!), chicken karaage, yakitori and soba noodles 😍😍😍 All of them were so flavourful. Genuinely good and deserve the 5 stars rating! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Best Udon I've had in my three weeks in japan, other dishes are amazing aswell. The tatami-area has insanely comfortable pillows and tables, the cook's a very experienced older guy and the lady who's serving is welcoming and friendly.

Recommended supper spot after visiting one of the nearby onsen. Cozy and full of charm, with traditional tatami seating. Entire shop is filled with paraphernalia and framed art. Service is friendly and English menu is also provided so communication & ordering weren’t the slightest bit difficult. Entire meal with karaage, beer, sake and a bowl of udon/soba each only set us back by 3000¥.
