Utsunomiya, Tochigi, Japan｜ワインレストラン｜HACHINOJO

I visited for the first time last week. Hachinojo is a wine dining restaurant offering a wide selection of international wines from France, Italy, Chile, California, and more. Their menu is a fusion of European style dishes (mainly Italian, French, and Spanish). I was very impressed by the huge variety of pizza on their menu. I had the prosciutto with arugula pizza and the three-cheese white-sauce shrimp pizza. The steak with garlic sauce and vegetables was also very good. The desserts here are divine and worth getting-- even if you think you don't have any space for more! Their pudding is sweet, but unexpectedly light. The chocolate cake, served warm with vanilla ice cream, is rich and satisfying. The mille-feuille is flavorful and filled with a fluffy rum raisin cream. They also pair well with the coffee. The restaurant is built with the local and famous Oya stone and the ambiance allows for a relaxing meal. The owner was friendly, funny, and did his best to speak to me in English. There are large tables for big parties and counter seats at the bar. They also offer lunch courses from 2200yen. Keep in mind that it's a bit tricky to find, as it is easy to miss. (It is located along the train tracks, next to a playground.)

Enjoy delicious food and wine selected by the owner, who is a sommelier, in a sophisticated space. A conversation with the soft-spoken and nice owner makes me feel at ease, and the staff's lovely smiles and the food, which brings out the deliciousness of the ingredients, always leave me feeling happy and energized. This time I visited for my mother's 90th birthday celebration lunch. It was a very nice birthday lunch with a congratulatory message written on the plate. I don't like seafood, but thank you for making a different appetizer that includes seafood. I'll visit you again! (I would also like to try Chef S's risotto. I wonder if I can eat it if I go at night?)
