Strongly recommend Shio Ramen with lemon. Soup is very refreshing. A simplicity at its best. Onigiri (Rice ball) is almost perfect. Local good quality rice with mountain salt, another must try item. So sad I don’t have enough time to try gellato.

This ramen restaurant uses salt (not from seawater) made by boiling down the hot spring water from the Oshio Urabandai hot springs in a wood-fired oven. This restaurant is conveniently located inside Aizu-Wakamatsu Station and can be used while waiting for a train or bus. The staff are also friendly and helpful. The menu is only in Japanese, but pictures are attached, so you can order even if you do not understand Japanese. What I tried this tiime: Aizu Yama-Shio Ramen ★★★★★ The refreshing salt-flavored soup has a different flavor from other restaurants, and I could finish the soup to the last drop. The hot spring water of Oshio Onsen is made from residual lava from ancient seawater that has remained in the stratum called "green tuff" and dissolved into the groundwater at high temperatures. Over the years, the dissolved components have changed, and compared to seawater, there are fewer chlorine ions and more sulfate ions in the water. Salt rice balls ★★★★★ A simple rice ball made with only rice and mountain salt. However, the delicious local rice matched with the mountain salt was so delicious that no other side dish was needed. Mountain salt gelato★★★★★ It was not sweet so much, but had a pleasant salty taste that spread in my mouth. In addition to this, the restaurant also offers the locally famous "Sauced pork cutlet bowl" and a set menu, making it a restaurant where one can enjoy a variety of dishes.

Yummy deep fried pork chop, curry rice and noodle. Served my craving of all these delicious foods 🤩. This restaurant is conveniently located inside the train station right next to the souvenir shop. Can go shopping while waiting in line.
