We knew this place had to be good when we saw the trucks stopped outside (truckers always know the best ramen places). I had the motsu (tripe) ramen and my dad had the spicy motsu. The delicious broth had plenty of chives, green onion and pork fat, which gave it a rich umami flavor. Living in New York City, I tend to prefer a more authentic atmosphere. This place is a little dingy, which I think is perfect for a down-home ramen spot. If you're in the mood for a heartwarming and belly-filling experience, I highly recommend Tompei Shokudou.

I visited the store around 10:45 on Saturday, January 6th, and there were 7 customers in line. When the restaurant opened at 11:00, I was guided to my seat and was able to sit at the counter. I ordered a regular size skirt steak bowl. It's the size of a ramen bowl and has a lot of volume, but it would be dangerous if you made it larger. The slightly sweet sauce goes perfectly with the meat and rice. Pure levers are ordered separately. The sauce here is also delicious and is a satisfying dish. My wife ordered spicy hormone noodles. The spicy soup and noodles go well together and are also delicious. This time, I was having a hard time choosing between the rich ramen or the skirt steak bowl, but I think I can expect rich ramen as well. The store looks a bit shabby from the outside, but you can expect all of the dishes that come out. By the way, I bought the very popular dish, motsuni, as a take-out. The parking lot can only accommodate 3 cars, but you can park on the street in front of the store, so you don't have to worry about parking.
