Odawara, Kanagawa, Japan｜la matiere f

Came here in 2018. Thoroughly enjoyed every dish, and the experience was great. The presentation and taste identity of each dish was well thought out, and came through very well. For the price, the experience was extraordinary, compared to what I've experienced at other more expensive restaurants. I'd definitely say taking a detour in your trip to eat here would definitely be worth it. However, restaurant staff were not fluent in English, so foreign guests please keep this in mind.

4.45 - This small French restaurant impressed me with the following two factors: (1) Chef is clever and pays attention to make a right sauce to elevate the key ingredient of the dish(es). (2) Ability to control fire/heat temperature in a professional standard to maximise the texture of the dish(es). However, I have to say that Chef has some attitude to foreigners or some types of visitors. P.S. This is my honest and genuine review which has no intention to disseminate any harmful message. I only judged based on what I saw, tasted and felt during my dinning experience here.

If you are in Odawara, I recommend here for lunch and dinner! The town called Odawara is a tourist spot, and there are many places where the price is high and the level of food provided is low, but I can only recommend Matilière, who is located near Odawara Station and next to Odawara Castle. If you are in Odawara, I would like you to consider this first, as it offers quality that exceeds the price.
