Karuizawa, Nagano, Japan｜La Locanda Del Pittore Karuizawa

We arrived 30 minutes before lunchtime without a reservation and were fortunate to secure a table. As an Italian, I have to say I found their food genuinely authentic and delicious. The only thing that's always different is that pizzas are a bit on the small side. When we each ordered one, it seemed to confuse them, and they brought us only one to share, so we had to order another one. But the staff was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend it!

The food is good, the service is excellent! Many restaurants nearby need reservation, so we can find nothing to eat in about 1-hour searching. Fortunately, this restaurant saved us from the cold and hungry night.

Pleasantly surprised by how good (and dare I say genuine) the food was at this place. I’m often left disappointed visiting Italian restaurants in Japan but this was was top draw. From the clay oven pizzas, tasty and slightly al dente pasta with salty pancetta and delicious dolce to finish, would definitely recommend.
