Takehara, Hiroshima, Japan｜Horikawa

I had a great time with a really good experience in service. The atmosphere is quaint like a nice little restaurant. I ordered the Takehara-yaki and it was delicious. Really excited to go again.

I visited here while travelling through Japan in mid August. I am not an expert in Okonomiyaki, but this was some of the best I had during my entire stay in Japan. I was a bit nervous to visit the restaurant by myself, since my Japanese is a bit poor, but the staff was welcoming and helpful and I had a great time relaxing and enjoying some good food.

We were able to stand in line for about an hour to eat. It is famous for being the filming location for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and the Horikawa soy sauce brewery that was featured in the movie is now a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurant. The okonomiyaki eaten at the soy sauce brewery had an elegant atmosphere and was very delicious. Also, it seems that these days it is very famous as the sacred place of the animation Tamayura. Waiting in line seems to be heavily influenced by anime. A place I’ve always wanted to come to!! ️It was worth the wait in line. Thank you for the meal.
