Takasaki, Gunma, Japan｜Kannana Ramen Shumen

Great and cheap ramen place in Takasaki, it's right in the Arcade. Good ambience.

This place is legendary. Despite being right at the entrance/end of the sketchiest and grimiest street in Takasaki, this is a must-go-to spot. The eponymous ramen is good, but I’m a fan of their take on a tomato ramen. The noodles here are thick and it just works. The tsukemen is good and very filling - you can even get extra noodles for free if you really want to hate yourself later. Speaking of hating yourself later, the booze here is ridiculous in that you can get “mega” (size) versions of anything. If I remember correctly, it’s about a liter and a half. Check it out.

I'm doing it until dawn. It's crowded even late at night, whether it's good when there's no last train. Yakitori is delicious even though it is a ramen shop. The drink menu is completely izakaya.
