Nikko, Tochigi, Japan｜あわじ食堂

We came here for a late lunch before getting to our hotel. The ladies who owned the place were welcoming and even provided us with an English menu when she saw me slowly translating the Japanese menu on the wall. She even taught us how to make a really good combination of sauces for the gyoza. The portion was huge!!! Thankfully 3 of us shared the special yakisoba, the spicy pork ramen and the gyoza or else we would still be too full for dinner that night. The broth for the ramen was not very spicy and really flavorful. We loved it that lots of beansprout was added as well. Would love to visit this charming little place for ramen again next time we stay at Kinugawa Onsen.

Huge generous servings, hearty broth. The chasiew Wanton ramen came with translucent meat broth, four large pork slices and many wonton, with bouncy noodles. Yum! 🍜

Small ramen place. Huge serving, taste good for a cheap price. We order spicy miso ramen with pork, miso ramen with pork and vegetable ramen with pork.
