Sagamihara, Kanagawa, Japan｜Koryu Ramen

As my fellow reviewers have observed, Koryu Ramen is indeed a gem in an unlikely location. It features Hakodate style ramen, which has a salt based broth and has lots of vegetables. I visited on a Thursday for lunch, and was the only customer for the entire time. The interior is rather like an old house occupied by someone who has been a bachelor for many years. There are papers and personal items occupying much of the customer seating area. There are also clippings of magazine articles featuring the restaurant, and even a stuffed raccoon at the entrance. If you want to experience a taste of authentic Japan, you will find it here. The proprietor himself comes from Hokkaido, where he worked in the boiler room of a factory until his retirement at age 50. He then moved to this location, where he has been operating the shop for 31 years as of this writing. If you can speak Japanese, he has stories to tell.

this is a super local Japanese ramen. So nice to find this place. It's just nearby the sagamiko illumination.

A hidden gem. Stopped at this place on the way to Lake Sagami Pleasure Forest. The interior looks messy and beat up, but it has a homely feeling. The shio ramen is the best.
