More Comments at Google MapFeeling adventurous? Try Lemon Ramen! It's soft tangy taste feels refreshing, perfect to restart your palate on umami/savory Japanese dishes. However, I strongly recommend removing the lemon slices halfway through eating to avoid the bitterness of the lemon skin to sip through the soup. Taiyodo is also one of the most affordable, value-for-money local restaurants in Kamakura.
My wife and I dropped in for an early lunch after hiking around Kamakura. We were hungry and we weren’t disappointed. I ordered the “shio” ramen (no.11) and my wife got the “shoyu” ramen (no.1). Both were excellent. The “shio” broth used basil as a nice added seasoning that I hadn’t experienced in ramen before. Both bowls featured noodles that were slightly on the hard side and chasu pork that was tender with a perfect amount of fat. Like most ramen shops, ordering is from the machine located just inside the store. There is an English menu with photos as well. If you’re near Kamakura station and looking for a quick and economical meal, this is the place for an excellent bowl of ramen.
Came here with my boyfriend, looking for something different than our usual miso soup ramen. I got the number 11-the ramen regular salt-sauce taste and he got the number 1-the special ramen regular soy-sauce taste. Both taste amazing. The pork was on point, the broth was the most unique part with the taste of pork throughout the whole soup. I loved that the broth was not thick, for me it was just right and the noodles where not to thick or to thin. Perfect! Definitely consider this my ramen spot when I am around the area now. I recommend this to anyone who wants to try new ramen from their usual just like myself. Also, go for the YUZU juice and RAMUNE bottle, you won’t regret it.
