Zushi, Kanagawa, Japan｜壱成

'Issei' Ramen - the shops name and #1 dish on the menu. Best I have found Kanagawa for tonkotsu, being better than many places I have been to in Fukuoka prefecture. Pork is always nicely marbled and never dry, being slathered in a rich sauce and caramelized on a hot griddle before it hits the bowl. Thinly sliced green onions which are fried hard in oil make for crispy and flavorful topping. 2000 yen total for every dish pictured, with the same great pork and fresh seasonal seafood like cuttlefish in the fried rice for no upcharge. Can't beat it! Tsukemen is well dressed in a smoky sesame oil for hot summer days when you still want to enjoy some noodles. Don't leave without purchasing the owners spicy homemade miso paste for takeaway, it's perfect on grilled vegetables and dumplings at home.

My favorite ramen house in Zushi!!! The roast pork simply melts in your mouth!! The broth is rich. Ramen is the best! I also like the fried negi which really adds spice to the ramen.

Issei ramen and chahan. #1 and #31 on the vending machine. It was delicious as expected. I wish I lived closer. This place is a guaranteed winner.
