Takahagi, Ibaraki, Japan｜Ramen Maruya

Like a timeslip into the 90's. Maruya is inexpensive, has a variety of foods besides the main ramen of course, and the happy owners treat customers as family. The soup tastes fine, the noodles also- more than worth the low price. The chashu pork is amazing, better than any I have had in Japan.

I've been curious about it ever since I moved to Takahagi, but I couldn't go in alone...I was finally able to go in 👏 The chashu pork was delicious, and the gyoza was made with only vegetables and had a chewy skin, making the ramen noodles even more delicious.

Cheap anyway. The daily lunch was 530 yen for ramen + mince cutlet + half rice + pickles. Set meals are also cheap. I'm not familiar with ramen, but it feels like it's old-fashioned. The difficulty is that there is no parking lot.
