Shizuoka, Japan｜Mikawaya

This was an amazing find. The owners were super friendly and the food were delicious. You can really get a taste of authentic Japanese culture and Oden. The local Japanese customers who sat next to us were really nice and gave us lots of recommendations when ordering food. There's quite a few dishes that's only limited to this restaurant or limited to Shizuoka e.g. しのだ巻き(Shinoda maki), 白焼き(Shiro yaki), 黒はんぺん(Kuro hanpen) and 餅キョウザ(mochi gyoza) - homemade by the obasan. It was a compact yet warm atmosphere. I loved my experience here. Highly recommend! This restaurant apparently was a favourite of the mangaka of Chibi Maruko-chan and there was her signature on the wall too.

The cozy restaurant bar of local traditional food in Shizuoka bar street, Aoba Yokocho. You should go when you go to Shizuoka city. Maybe hard to get the seat (no standing place) if you dont have the resevation. But you can try anyway. If weekday, might be ok. I was lucky on Wed. Drink: Beer, no draft no craft. Only bottle beer but they have good one, red star Sapporo. Also there are some local Sake. Food: Shizuoka 3 types oden, first of all you have to try it. Also Renkon, I recommend (If you cannot imagine what it is, pls google it. its very healthy vegetable.) Its very fun and exciting to go to local place. You can feel real local atmosphere in this restaurant, Mikawaya.
