Atami, Shizuoka, Japan｜Wakana

So lovely place. The chef is so kind. And food quality is so fresh and just amazing!!!!!

I had a take-out lunch box at a place where the red line remains. Even in a taxi, if you told them that there was a Wakana-san in the area, they would be able to tell you without the need for a navigation system. The lemon and sesame scented sushi was so addictingly delicious that I couldn't stop using my chopsticks. I felt the flavor was a little strong, but it also goes well as a snack with alcohol, and I was very satisfied. We also had scrolls made for the children. Cash payment only.

One day in November 2020, when I stayed in Atami, I bought a two-tiered lunch box from Wakana Sushi. Each dish is made very carefully, and every dish is very delicious, and I would like to use it again in the future. We have small children and it is still difficult for us to eat in a quiet restaurant, so it all started with the desire to eat delicious food that we can take out. The accommodation itself was suddenly decided the day before, so the reservation for the lunch box for Wakana Sushi was also late the night before. Even though it was probably a busy time, when I called, he responded promptly and promised to deliver after 17:00 on the day. On the day of the event, after leaving our luggage at the lodging facility, we got in the car and headed to pick up our lunch boxes. The store is located one inside from the main road, and there is not much car traffic. It is an area with a unique atmosphere, lined with small restaurants, bars, cafes, and snacks. When I visited the store at the appointed time, the bento was ready and I paid for it. One bento was 2,800 yen (tax included). I remember feeling a little heavy. It is best to look at the picture and the enclosed menu (handwritten!!) for the bento. The colorful ingredients are carefully cooked with various seasonings, so you will never get tired of it. (There is a variety of meat, fish, and vegetables!) The children seemed to be eating deliciously. All of the dishes were so wonderful that it was hard to choose one over the other. It was my favorite flavor. The ingredients of the sashimi may change depending on the season, but the North Sea octopus (water octopus) is the best. Beer, wine, sake, shochu, any kind of alcohol would go well with a bento (I chose beer → wine). Overall, the seasoning is strong. Alcohol is going on. In terms of quantity, it is enough for a large adult to fill their stomachs. A couple and a 5-year-old child were enough for two people. Again, it was really delicious, so I would definitely use it again when I go to Atami.
