Oyama, Tochigi, Japan｜Iwasaki

A high class eel restaurant. Charcoal? It takes a long time because it is slowly baked, but the taste is just that much more delicious. It was the best I've ever eaten! I was surprised that it was full even though it was a weekday night. This is a store I would definitely like to visit again.

Revisited from a pre-corona visit. If you can eat at this level, you won't feel the need to go to Tokyo. The flesh is mushy and the surface is charred until it has a slightly bitter taste. The sweet sauce and this bitterness are exquisite. The rice is hard, but I like it this way. Apparently the sashimi is good too.

Charcoal-grilled, fragrant, fluffy eel. It's no surprise that the store is always full of customers.
