Omaezaki, Shizuoka, Japan｜Nozaki

Excellent unagi restaurant! The eels are steamed before grilled, so they are both soft and crunchy. We ordered “jou unaju” and the portion was just enough. When we came there was no queue and the food came out pretty fast. They also have private rooms for group. Definitely come again when we are in the area.

Visited on a trip to Shizuoka. It seems to be a very popular shop, and when I went there around 12:30 noon during the Obon period, there was no parking lot available. My wife couldn't give up and got out of the car to ask about the waiting time. So I accepted it and wrote my name on the waiting list and waited. Entered and seated in about 35 minutes. Food was served in about 10 minutes. It seems that our family was the last customer (at least at noon on this day). I'm surprised that it's a very popular store. If you can eat Unaju (August 2023 price) for 3700 yen, it was a cheap one, and it was a very delicious Unaju. Popularity is a matter of course. If you come to Omaezaki again, I would definitely like to stop by.

The eel is small, but it is fatty and steamed and grilled just right. The umami (moderate sweetness) of the sauce is also exquisite. I had the special eel on rice (2 eels) and shirayaki.
