Tajimi, Gifu, Japan｜Unagiya

The best eel restaurant in Gifu Prefecture. Once you eat the eel here, you won't be satisfied with the eel from other restaurants. The sauce and grilling are perfect, and it's truly a traditional art. The glossy white rice is also highly rated. It's great that a large serving of rice is free. The store has a nice atmosphere and the staff are very polite. I live abroad, but every time I return to Japan, I want to eat eel at this restaurant.

Fantastic unagi here. Done in the unbeatable straight-to-grill style (without pre-cooking, I'm told this is a distinctive style of unagi), the portions here are joyously generous and the staff are easy with the bonhomie... Prior to coming to this place i had thought i had been spoiled for Unagi by a certain famous joint in Seki but, while the Seki restaurant still wins for crunchiness on the whole, Unagiya in Tajimi stands up with superior taste, juiciness, targeted crunch and chew, and portion. Love this unagi, and am luckily enough to live just around the corner, here's to many years of indulgence!

Really awesome eel restaurant. Good for families as well as singles our groups. Highly recommend by me.
