Ise, Mie, Japan｜Hasegawa Coffee

Stumbled upon this real gem of a cafe after a pearl extracting experience nearby. Stone steps lead you to a bright and airy shop where the owner carefully makes you delicious drip coffee. You have the option of sitting in a tatami room next door to savor it while escaping the summer heat (in my case). Everything in the space feels like it was carefully picked to create its relaxing atmosphere. I sat there for a long time watching the wind rustle the garden trees’ leaves. It was the best part of my first day in Mie. As recommended by the owner, don’t forget to stop by the little salt warehouse just a few minutes walk away as well!

Truly good coffee does exist in Japan. My first was in Osaka but this place takes the cake. Except they don't serve cake here, only exceptional filtered coffee. It's well worth the detour.
