Hirogawa, Wakayama, Japan｜桜蓮 ーKARENー

Very friendly and spacious cafe in a rural area of Wakayama. We ordered 2 pork banh mi and 1 waffle with fruit as a desert to share. The pork banh mi was delicious! adapted to be a more Japanese style Banh mi with a moderate cafe-style taste that was still tasty. I like the softer baguette and really enjoyed the fruits that came with the Banh mi. It also came with Thai sweet chili sauce and garlic fish sauce which I preferred to put on the sandwich. They have a selection of Australian T2 teas, and I enjoyed the French Earl Grey that came with the waffle (around 850 yen). Since they have a cute Dachshund in the site, I am guessing the restaurant is a dog friendly place where perhaps you can walk around their garden (or event space?). They have a spacious parking space in a walkable distance as well. We will definitely come back to check the other menu as well with my dog! Thank you for your great hospitality!

A beautiful spacious cafe with a delicious lunch plate and friendly staff. Well worth the drive, a must visit cafe!
