I went to Mt. Takao for a New Year's visit during the New Year holidays. For some reason, I visit Mt. Takao once or twice a year. I thought it would be empty because it was New Year's Day, but it was just the opposite. It is crowded with people visiting Yakuo-in Temple for the first time. When I come to Mt. Takao, I really want to eat yam soba, but all the soba restaurants at the foot of the mountain are crowded, so I found this Nikko restaurant. The inside of the restaurant has a cozy retro feel, like a light restaurant near a ski resort. I chose the original yam kakiage soba. If you pay in advance and wait at your seat, the rice bowl will arrive. The soup is piping hot and delicious! The soba noodles have a chewy, smooth texture and are delicious! I thought it might be mixed with soba flour, but it turns out that's the case. It was empty, so I went in without expecting much, but I was impressed by this place! The yam kakiage is delicious, the soba has a good texture, and the soup is piping hot. Next time I come to Mt. Takao, I'll definitely have lunch here.
