More Comments at Google MapGreat local family-run restaurant in Funabori! All the food I’ve tried from this place has been great. The ginger pork is especially good! All the workers there are very friendly and the owner also speaks fluent English so no need to worry if your Japanese isn’t too good. I’ll definitely be coming back to this place whenever I’m around the area.
We came here on our first night in Tokyo, as it was really close to our hotel. The place was a bit hard to find and was tucked away behind another building. But once we entered, we were treating with incredible Japanese hospitality. The lady who works there spoke perfect English which made things super easy for us. We let her know we are new to Japan, so she set aside time to make sure we understand what we ordered and have everything taken care of. This occured while she was treating another 6 customers AND carrying a baby! The food was pretty tasty. We had fresh tuna, beef, and fried fish. The whole experience was a fantastic way to start our trip, and kind felt like we were in an episode of Midnight Dinner. We would definitely come back when we visit Tokyo in the future, and highly recommend the joint to anyone near the Funabori Station.
I visited for lunch. The entrance is a little bit recessed, making it difficult to find the store. I thought it was going to be a cafe-like place when I visited, but when I looked at the menu and the drinks on the shelves, it turned out to be an izakaya. It looks like you can smoke, too. The char siu rice bowl for lunch had a lot of flavor in the char siu and was delicious. Personally, I prefer the egg yolks to be a little more raw and half-boiled, but it's perfectly acceptable. It costs 850 yen and includes a salad, a small side dish, and coffee after the meal. I think the cost performance is very good. In the photo, the miso soup is pork miso soup, but this seems to be today's service and is different from usual. Next time, I would like to visit at night.
