Kofu, Yamanashi, Japan｜Taiyo

Huge drinks! Great prices. I moved here only recently so my Japanese is minimal but that didn't hinder the experience. The family that owns it is amazing and so sweet!

One of my favorite restaurants in Kofu! The owner also owns a local fish shop, so be sure to order fish when you visit. The seafood is very fresh and delicious and the portion sizes are huge! You will get more than you pay for. My favorite dish is the honey cream crab croquettes, (I've actually had a dream once about these croquettes...), but the tempura and sashimi are also amazing and I recommend! I also always order a litre of beer, it's a special charm of this place. The restaurant offers a huge variety and it's on a handwritten menu, but fear not! Even with a low kanji ability the staff are very friendly and personable, and most of the clientele is as well. A very homey and welcoming spot. Make sure you go early, it's very popular and often a line forms outside of people waiting. Lunch is especially popular due to the extremely cheap lunch menu, so be sure to check your time!

One of my favorite restaurants in Kofu. I love the fried cream crab meal. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The language barrier is challenging, but don't let that stop you from enjoying some of the best traditional japanese food.
