Yamanochi, Nagano, Japan｜Crumpet Cafe

As a tourist this place is a bit tricky to find, but it’s worth it when you get there. You either need to take the chairlift, hike it up the hill or take the unmarked courtesy mini-van as the road up to the cafe is closed to other vehicles. We parked near the Shibutoge Hotel. Bit of repairs happening on the ground floor of the building when we arrived which made finding the cafe entry challenging. Once we found the cafe, it is quite charming and the view would be incredible on a clear day. Crumpets were delicious and the coffee was as good as we could find in Japan. Finding this cafe was an adventure and we have some great memories!

Definitely worth making a stop and taking the cable car here. Amazing views and amazing food and drinks.

Delicious crumpets and coffee. It’s great to warm up from the cold while skiing or to take in the views on a sunny day. The cozy wood stove is dangerous because you won’t want to get up!
