I called on a sunny day to see if there were any seats available. We had a fermented lunch and came with a variety of sweets. The splendor of the building and the well-maintained garden were enchanting everywhere I looked. Please come and have a wonderful time away from your daily life.

I saw a program about visiting old cafes and was curious about it, so I decided to visit. It was a large mansion built by a wealthy farmer during the Meiji era, and was supported by magnificent beams. It is also registered as a cultural property of Joetsu City. Each room was elaborate. The most elaborate thing is the food. What we received was the Hakko Handwoven Box (drink set). A light snack set that focuses on fermented foods and also includes rice balls. We enjoyed the beautiful garden while admiring it. The drinks were elaborate too, and I had jasmine tea that was brewed on the same day. We had a very relaxing time. It was also an old folk house cafe that I would like to visit if I have time.

An old folk house cafe that is a cultural property. The fermented sweets made with sake lees from the nearby Maruyama Sake Brewery (Yukichuume) are delicious. Reservations are required as seats are limited. The number of customers seems to be increasing, perhaps because it was introduced on NHK's "Haru-san's Holiday" the other day. Currently only open on Fridays and Saturdays.
