Onomichi, Hiroshima, Japan｜Tomato

Such delicious food and the lady was so sweet. Even though we didn’t speak Japanese, she made the effort to care for us, even noticing our sun burns from the full day of biking. What a great place to stumble upon. Not sure what some of the reviewers are getting at here. Also, you can tell the place is a hit with the locals!

When we arrived, two Americans were seated at the stove and one of them hadn't eaten the okonomiyaki, the only dish you should be interested in at this restaurant. Owner was visibly unhappy. Me and 2 Japanese come in and I get the large fish eye, of course. The more I inhaled her absolutely spot-on version of this classic Hiroshima dish, the more her attitude improved. Great meal.

Tasty Okanomiyaki in a small and quiet shop. An English Menu is available to view the options. We got prawns in ours.
