Osaka, Japan｜Torebon

In short: very delicious, authentic Japanese experience I agreed with some of the reviews saying that this place is not friendly to non-Japanese speaking people. However, I’d rather say respect is mutual. I went in and was given the English menu with only three dishes (yes), but I managed to order with the picture under this review (that’s why I want to contribute some too). Order was taken by the female boss and her English is very limited. So I tried to communicate with the only Japanese words I know, which is thank you and delicious. The guy boss started to speak some English and Chinese/Cantonese with me. Very friendly and welcoming after that. I assume sometimes tourists could be annoying and that’s why they’d rather just have people order simple things and eat.

Stumbled upon this shop, located next to the hotel we stayed at. We were amazed by how amazing their food is. Okonomiyaki is a must have, full of flavours and reasonable price.

Humble izakaya that we stumbled upon in Osaka, it was an amazing experience ! Despite it being quite late at night, they were able to accommodate us. It totally reminded us of Midnight Diner- the chef was cute and friendly, he whipped up our okonomiyaki and yakisoba with great style on his table grill! The okonomiyaki was very fluffy and the yakisoba had great ‘wok hei’ as we say for Chinese food! Service from then staff was warm and friendly, we can’t wait to visit again!
