Zushi, Kanagawa, Japan｜Shimizubashi Bar

This place is awesome! I would never have found this treasure if my friend didn't show me. The meat was super fresh and the sauce was delicious. The chef was super efficient at preparing great food in a short time! The waiter was very attentive as well! Thank you!

Always excellent - the food, the wine, and the atmosphere. Zushi has a lot of great izakayas, this place ranks among the best.

I've not been to a more hip izakaya than Shimizu Bashi Bar. 10 seats at the bar, four tables upstairs (two four tops, one six top and a spot for a couple). It's a place that feels instantly comfortable. Their chef, Murakami-san, will be diligently working to make sure your food is superb and they usually have at least one server who speaks English. They serve wines, nihonshu, beer, whiskey, chuhai, and carry gin, vodka, and some liqueurs. There is no "well"...all the bottles are quality. As is their cuisine. Three salads, great appetizers- rum raisin cream cheese, avocado with garlic chips, Japanese style pickles, dried figs and macaroons, pumpkin gnocchi, chicken pate, and more. I've tried all those and more. They feature yakitori beef, pork, chicken, and the specials for the day. Additionally, they'll always have a carpaccio (often topped with whole peppercorns). Three soups and a stew round off the menu, but don't come here for dessert...they've got one (as of this review) and it's lemon sherbet. I recommend this izakaya if you're ready to relax, laugh, eat and drink with style, and spend a little coin (but even the soda water is craft, so I'm not complaining).
